Mashantucket seeks Chief of Police

Under the direction of Tribal Council’s designee, the Chief of Police is responsible for the direct administration of the Police Department, Tribal Security Department, and Public Safety Law Enforcement Radio Communications Center (Dispatch). The Chief creates an environment of trust and respect between the Police and the Tribal Community and develops a policing philosophy that is compatible with the needs of the Mashantucket Pequot Tribe. The Chief promotes a favorable image of the Department and the Mashantucket Pequot Tribe. Successful completion of a recognized police academy; Bachelor’s Degree in criminal justice, public administration, or related field supplemented by advanced courses in police science and administration; and five (5) years progressive law enforcement experience, the majority of which is at command/administrative level or minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible law enforcement experience, at least half of which is at command/administrative level required. Working knowledge of the principles, methods, and practices of modern law enforcement; modern philosophies and trends in police management; and federal, state, and tribal laws. Valid Motor Vehicle Driver’s License; CT POST Certification required upon commencement of duties. BIA SLEC Certification required within 6 months of hire.
